It’s absolutely thrilling to be facilitating a school setup which has set out to make a change in the educational landscape of Kanpur.

As I had read somewhere about “What a school needs to be’ and it resonates so deeply with me that actually schools need to be emotionally safe spaces for creative and inclusive learning, Schools need to be spaces where children are nurtured, allowed to think, be curious, get inspired, imagine and, most importantly, ask questions. Where they can learn to communicate, collaborate, interact meaningfully, build relationships and communities. Where they can play, laugh, love, make mistakes, stumble. fall and learn to stand up again. Where they learn about their own selves, their strengths, their vulnerabilities, their feelings. Where their bodies become stronger along with their minds and hearts and they learn the art of living, being courageous, caring for their environment, being change agents and making the right choices.

Equally important is the ‘Connect’ which a teacher builds up with each of their students. No learning can ever take place without the connect. It’s about loving, celebrating, validating and valuing each student in your class. They thrive when they feel they are being appreciated, recognized and valued as human beings.

At NLK’s Disha, it is our constant endeavor to put these principles into practice. Here we are committed to creating an inclusive school experience where neurodiverse kids study with their neurotypical peers and we ensure that they get the best learning experience through visual, kinesthetic, auditory, and tactile strategies depending on the child’s individual learning needs.

We believe that parents are equal partners in a student’s growth trajectory and should be holistically involved, understand and be a part of the process.

We are sure with the active involvement of our passionate teachers, constant support from the management and continued cooperation from parents, we will be able to establish NLK’s Disha as the best inclusive primary school in Kanpur.

The scope for co-curricular activities at NLK is extensive and wide-ranging. We are proud to inculcate develop LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) skills in our students through all our co-curricular engagements, enabling them to become confident communicators and creative thinkers.

Disha’s Diwali Abiliverse celebrated creativity, inclusion, and unity with vibrant performances, joyful stalls, and festive cheer-honoring every child’s unique spark and spreading light across the campus.

DYSLEXIA AWARENESS EVENTS

NUKKAD NATAK – “Different, But Not Less.” Disha students raised dyslexia awareness through a compelling street play, promoting empathy, support, and inclusive learning.

DO YOU SEE ME – Dyslexia Awareness Day with PKMC. The event featured the Nukkad Natak, student awards, and doodle art displays – celebrating learning differences with creativity and inclusion.

WATER DAY RALLY : BLUE PLANET, BRIGHT FUTURE

Drops of Hope, Echoes for Change – Disha Leads the Way: Students led a powerful rally to promote water conservation.

Through slogans, banners, and strong messages, they urged the community to save every drop and adopt sustainable habits – proving that small actions can drive big change.

DISHA "अन्वेषण" : EXPLORING KNOWLEDGE, TRANSFORMING MINDS

Disha hosted a full academic exhibition across all subjects, where every student shared their learning through project displays and interactive exhibits.

The event highlighted innovative teaching methods, interdisciplinary learning, and student engagement – reflecting Disha’s commitment to providing a caring, holistic education.
